Now that the skies have cleared and summer is here, it’s time to get back to business and start working on your fitness regimen. There’s plenty of workouts existing online and while these are great options, sometimes we could use a good run. Running is a cardiovascular exercise that gets the heart rate up and gets the blood flowing. It can be good to enhance endurance, strengthen the heart, and help you with your weight loss goals. Running can be done alone or with a group and perhaps the best part of it is the scenery.


While home workouts have dominated most of the quarantine workout scene, running gives us a variety of sights to see and helps switch the scenery up a bit. Capitol Commons

Where it Is: Meralco Avenue corner Shaw Boulevard, Ortigas Center, Pasig City

What It’s Like: Capitol Commons is a fairly new development but it has already gained a reputation for outdoorsy type people who want to get their fitness on. The 500 meter road is perfect for running and a loop around the park is 300 meters. Capitol Commons is perfect for running, jogging, sprints, and walking.


Marikina Sports Complex

Where it Is: Sumulong Highway cor. Shoe Avenue, Marikina City

What It’s Like: Marikina Sports Complex is home to a 400-meter track oval which is accessible for only a 10-peso fee*. Its hours are from 6 am- 12 am so runners can get their runner’s high at your most convenient time.


Quezon Memorial Circle

Where it Is: Elliptical Road, Diliman, Quezon City

What It’s Like: Located in the heart of Quezon City, Quezon Memorial Circle is notable for being a runner’s paradise. The course starts at the Manuel L. Quezon Monument, a 1.8 kilometer perimeter measures one round. If you’re looking for a longer run, Quezon Memorial Circle can be your starting point toward UP Diliman, Commonwealth, and Katipunan.



Emerald Avenue

Where it Is: F. Ortigas Jr. Road, Ortigas Center, Barangay San Antonio, Pasig City.

What It’s Like: Emerald Avenue is notable for being a busy and bustling commercial street, with it being the business center. Every Sunday, however, from 6 am to 6pm, Pasig City holds a “Bike, Health, and Carless Day” project. Apart from safe running, this program also holds dance and aerobics classes.


Filinvest City

Where it Is: Filinvest City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City

What It’s Like: Filinvest City is a breath of fresh air if you’ve grown weary of the hustle and bustle of the city. While a city itself, it possesses a running trail decorated with trees and grass that truly gives you the scenery, the nature break that you definitely need while still feeling energized for your run.


La Mesa Ecopark




Where it Is: Novaliches, Quezon City, Metro Manila

What It’s Like: On the note of looking for a natural paradise to get your runner’s high, La Mesa Eco Park boasts lush greeneries that embrace the trail, making your run an exhilarating and scenic one.


Rizal Park

Where it Is: Ermita, Manila, 1000 Metro Manila

What It’s Like: Apart from being a monument to commemorate the country’s national hero, Rizal Park is notable for being a running and jogging trail in the city where you can get your adrenaline pumping. Its numerous paths make it a challenge for runners, along with the butterfly garden, the orchidarium, and the Noli Me Tangere garden that exist to serve as treats for the eyes.

What It’s Like: While situated in the heart of an urban jungle, this Makati runner’s haven is perfect for residents of the country’s business capital. Enjoy and energize yourself the contrast of nature and urbanization as you go out on your run.


Bonifacio Global City

What It’s Like: Also known as BGC or The Fort, Bonifacio Global City might be decorated with skyscrapers, shops, and restaurants but it also offers a trail that is perfect for getting your fitness while still keeping up with the city’s fast-paced life. BGC also holds spaces for fitness enthusiasts who also enjoy yoga and meditation.


Philsports Complex

Where it Is: Meralco Avenue, Pasig, 1600, Metro Manila

What It’s Like: This area houses the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee offices. The center, which was originally a training area for Philippine athletes, welcome running and jogging enthusiasts who wish to exercise on their facilities. Philsports Complex houses a 500-meter track and field oval that runners and joggers are free to exercise on.
