Saxenda (Liraglutide)

Liraglutide (brand name Saxenda) is a GLP-1 receptor agonist approved for weight management and the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It works by reducing appetite, slowing gastric emptying, and promoting a feeling of fullness, which helps to lower overall caloric intake. Clinical studies demonstrate that liraglutide can lead to an average weight loss of up to 8-10% of body weight when combined with a healthy diet and increased physical activity.

 

Additionally, liraglutide helps regulate blood sugar levels by stimulating insulin secretion when glucose levels are elevated and suppressing glucagon secretion, which reduces glucose production in the liver.
